Join MUSYCA Children's Choir for the 2024-2025 season enrollment. Singers of all ages and voices are welcome!
Boys and girls who love music and singing are encouraged to audition. We are looking for students who have musical potential, are passionate about singing, and are eager to learn and be a part of a great team. No previous choir experience is needed.
Audition is not required for children ages 3-6, who are welcome to enroll in our SuperSingers and KinderChoir. Please email us at sing@musyca.org or call 818-554-9937 to request the registration materials.
Elementary, middle, and high school students are encouraged to audition for a spot in one of our more advanced vocal ensembles.
The choir has six sequential levels:
Kinderchoir (ages 4–6)
Junior Chorus (ages 7–10)
Melody Choir (ages 10–13)
Harmony Ensemble (ages 13–18)
Young Men’s Chorus (ages 14–18)
Chamber Singers (SATB, ages 16–25).
MUSYCA also has an adult Community Chorale, which is open to singers ages 18 and above.
At this time we accept auditions via video submissions.
What to expect at the audition?
The audition is a positive, fun, informal, and stress-free experience.
The only people listening to your video audition will be MUSYCA's artistic staff.
Record and submit a short song selection, performed from memory, a cappella.
Simple phone video recording is ok.
Your child will sight-read a short musical passage (advanced placement only).
We will recommend a choral ensemble placement, which fits your child's age and vocal development.
What to sing at the audition?
Any song will do, performed from memory, a cappella.
Advanced singers may prepare a folk song, art song, musical theatre piece or an aria.
There is no minimum time requirement for a song. Usually, one verse and a chorus is enough.
Choose a piece that your child loves to sing, has been singing for a while, and knows well.
Sing Well. Be Heard.

Music Education
MUSYCA students receive instruction in proper vocal production and performance techniques, study music theory, and acquire skills in aural perception and musicianship. Our curriculum is deeply rooted in classical music, and the children are expertly trained to develop different models of the choral sound for specific historical music periods and musical styles within these periods. Our varied repertoire includes classical music, contemporary choral works, art songs, folk songs, popular music, and jazz. We specialize in teaching the bel canto (beautiful singing) vocal style. Our faculty members have Doctoral degrees in music performance and music education and are highly qualified to teach.
